- To keep things fresh, you need people who are constantly looking for ways to improve things, and who aren’t afraid of making changes to improve the ministry.
- Innovative people are drawn toward innovative churches, but they won't stick around if they're not allowed to be innovative.
Voice of Reason
When I was younger, I used to throw wild and crazy 4th of July parties packed with fireworks, bon fires, and energy drinks. We had more than our fair share of terrible (but awesome) ideas which were wildly dangerous. Luckily one of our friends was the voice of reason. He wanted a wild and crazy party, but he also didn't want anyone to end up in the hospital...or Heaven.
You need a voice of reason in your ministry. You need the person who wants an innovative ministry, but who will stop you from doing anything dumb.
- Without a voice of reason, your fearless innovator will either lead the ministry to greatness (by luck) or crash and burn with too many crazy ideas
- Your voice of reason will help you anticipate the push back you will receive after making a change
