James McDonald recently made a blog post where he talked about his process for making preaching notes. He then showed a picture of his preaching notes. The picture picture looked like scribblings of one of my teenagers. I couldn't make a single thing out, but it works for him.
Yesterday, I wrote about my process for creating sermons. Here are pictures of my mechanical layout, lesson plan (as I call it), and post-it notes in my Bible.
The first picture is of my mechanical layout. You'll notice writing, arrows, and highlighting. You probably can't make anything out on the low quality image, but if you could (and if you listened to my sermon), you'd see the sermon follows the points on the mechanical layout pretty well.
Picture number two is of my lesson plan. Notice there is lots of white space, bullet points, and varied text sizes. This is to make sure I can read it if I don't have time to memorize my sermon.
Last picture is of what my Bible looks like on the average Sunday morning. My post it notes typically just contain one or two word statements. It's just intended to remind me of a point.
