Being a parent is an interesting thing. I don't have any new insights. I have nothing special share about the experience.
What's interesting to me is that everything I would say about the last year are things which people said to me before we had him.
- He got so big so fast
- The time is flying by
- I can't imagine not having him around
- I have all kinds of fear and worries which I've never had before because I don't want anything bad to happen to him
- I can just sit there and watch him
- I love him so much
All of those statements are true, and they're all things which people told me would happen before he was born. One year and one day ago I entered the not so secret club of being a parent, and it's been great.
In a way, becoming a parent was an act of faith. People told you what the experience would be like, but no one can really imagine it until they are experiencing it.
ReplyDeleteGod calls us to trust in Him and the rewards of our faith. We can't really imagine them until we are experiencing them. What is waiting for us is something we can only barely imagine. We only get a taste of it.
That's a very good way to put it. Depending on your stage in life, there are ways in which the illustration goes both ways.
