Three C's of Communication: Content

At the foundation of all communication is having something to say. Equally important, you need something worthy of being heard.

When it comes to communication, the content is the easiest part to understand. If you're reading a blog on communication, you understand that you have something you want to say.

  • History teachers content is a piece of history.
  • Math teachers content is a math formula.
  • Preachers teach biblical principles.
  • Advertisements content is the benefits of a product.

Instead of defining content, it would be more beneficial to mention seven ways we mess up with content.

  1. Communicate too much different content all at once so the audience can't recognize the most important content.
  2. Communicate so much content that the audience can't remember it all.
  3. Provide content which doesn't match the title of the communication.
  4. Provide content which doesn't answer the questions the audience have about the subject.
  5. Provide content that isn't true.
  6. Provide content that is misleading.
  7. Provide content that promises more than it can deliver.
