New Blog Title: Fumbling Towards Excellence

I finally have a name for this blog.

I first conceived of starting this blog back in May 2008 when I graduated from college. Originally my idea was to make a Don Miller style journal of my first two years of full-time ministry. That idea started as a book idea, transformed into a blog idea, and was then abandoned (though now that I think about it, it's still a good idea). That morphed into an idea about teaching and preaching blog, which I wrote multiple blogs for and brainstormed topics. However, I never came up with a good title.

Then in January I decided it was time to stop thinking about starting a blog, and it was time to actually start doing something. So I started this blog without an entirely clear focus or a snazzy title. Instead I had passion to write about what I'm learning as a brand new student ministry pastor.

Finally, I have a name to go with that passion.

During a church wide leadership meeting tonight, my pastor, Bobby Pruitt (whom I've quoted and referenced multiple times) was speaking about the recent success of my ministry despite the fact I don't really know what I'm doing. He then threw out an amazing phrase which seemed to be a great way to describe my ministry: "Fumbling towards excellence."Afterwards someone pulled me aside and said it would make for a good book title, and suddenly it clicked in my head it would make a great blog title as well.

I didn't wake up this morning knowing I'd be renaming my blog today. So I think I'll write a series of blogs on what this blog is and is not about.

Colossians 3:17 (English Standard Version)

17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
