We've almost all had at least one terrible boss; someone we had to follow, but we certainly didn't respect. You've probably also seen good leaders make some bad choices. We've all been in groups where people treated us like we were worthless, useless, and have nothing to add to the conversation.
If we've all experienced bad leadership, then we all have a list of things we should never do. If you've felt the pain and consequences of poor leadership and management, why would you want to inflict that pain on others?
The first time I was put into a leadership position (a management position at a Chik-Fil-A), I was instructed on how to perform the tasks I was assigned, but I was given no instruction on leading people. I wasn't trained on how to be successful at my position. It was extremely frustrating to be given so much responsibility, but not be told what to do with it. Because of that experience, I never want to be a leader who gives people responsibilities without helping them be successful at the same time.
Pay attention when you see bad leadership so you don't inflict that same leadership on others.
