Matt Pryor of the Get Up Kids Interviews Dustin Kensrue of Thrice About Being a Worship Pastor
Here is an absolutely fascinating conversation between the lead singer of Thrice, who is now a worship pastor at Mars Hill Church, being interviewed by the lead singer of The Get Up Kids, who isn't a Christian to my knowledge & has virtually no knowledge of worship music and culture. The interviewer is a non-Christian with a genuine interest in understanding worship music culture. If anything the interview feels like Dustin is being condescending towards him in some of his responses. Matt seems to have a respect for Dustin while not at all agreeing with his belief system. Apparently Dustin has been open for years that he always felt he was going to be a pastor eventually. It's absolutely fascinating.
LISTEN HERE The full interview is over an hour. There is a bit of foul language, but don't let that scare you away.
As for me, I was a big fan of The Get Up Kids. I loved "Four Minute Mile" and "Something to Write Home About." However, I never got that into Thrice. So it's interesting to hear the lead singer of The Get Up Kids interviewing the lead singer of Thrice.
Here are my favorite songs from each.
